    Chapter Meeting January 2022

Lee Silber: "The Best Ways to Communicate Benefits with Each Generation in the Workplace -- All Five of Them"

    LIVE VIRTUAL PRESENTATION

It would be so much easier if we could just take one approach to every employee, but we can't. Yes, there are some common things that everyone wants---and we'll cover those--but it's better to know what each generation wants and needs, and communicate it in a way that they will embrace. In this in-depth presentation we will look at what works for Traditionalists (The Greatest Generation), Baby Boomers (The "Me Generation"), Gen X (The "Sandwich Generation"), Gen Y (Millennials), and the newest group of workers, Gen Z. Right now, Millennials make up the largest number of people in the workforce, so we will focus on ways to "wow" them, but we will also also learn what drives each age group and how to put together benefit packages and programs they will embrace. Including:

    • Learn how to create the perfect survey to best assess what each generation wants and needs. We'll look at examples of other surveys that have proven to work so we know what to include (and not include) in ours.
    • Discover the benefits all generations want and need (from Traditionalist to Gen Z ) using a handy quick-scan chart of common ground things what will work for (almost everyone) one one side, as well as one with the specific differences between each generation on the back. This handy guide (that each attendee will receive) makes it easy to review and remember the key commonalities and differences.
    • Understand what makes each generation who they, why they want what they want, and which communication techniques work with each age group. More than that, when we know what drives them we can reinvent our benefit programs around these generational differences.
    • Study the specific things about Millennials that shape what they want in the way of benefits (and why that is). With massive debt, Millennials overwhelmingly would prefer help paying off their student loans than an a 401K package. Fewer own and drive cars, so incentives that save them time and trips are welcomed. They crave work-life balance and value a flexible work schedule, unstructured PTO, and the ability to work remotely.
    • We'll borrow ideas from the best companies to work for and how we can use them to our benefit whether we are a big, or small firm. There are proven ideas that in most cases are easy to implement and not costly.

    About Lee:

Over 30 years ago Lee Silber gave his first speech. As the founder of a chain of retail stores—all before the age of 25—he was asked to speak on being an entrepreneur to an auditorium filled with teenagers. Surprisingly, they loved him and a new career was born. Since that fateful day Silber has given over 2,400 presentations to more than a million people and written 25 books (including a best seller). What he did to win over his first crowd and what he does today is the same. Lee uses humor, stories, and powerful visuals in his fast-paced and interactive presentations. No matter what the topic, he always does his homework and customizes his presentations to make sure he delivers relevant solutions and breakthrough ideas. He was also smart enough to marry a 25-year HR Professional. Lee lives in San Diego, California.
