Membership Categories

Designated SHRM Members: (Annual Dues: $40)

This level of membership would be appropriate for individuals who have current professional membership in the Society of Human Resource Management, meet the requirements of the Jayhawk Chapter's professional membership category, and have designated the Jayhawk Chapter (#486) as their local affiliate. NOTE: In order to qualify for this membership level you must provide your National SHRM Member number to the VP of Membership.

Professional Membership: (Annual Dues: $50)

This level of membership would be appropriate for individuals who are engaged in one or more of the following, but are not national SHRM members:

♦ Majority of their job duties in professional HR work; or

♦ Engaged in human resource management at the exempt level with at least 3 years

of experience; or

♦ Certified by the Society for Human Resource Management; or

♦ Certified by the Human Resource Certification Institute; or

♦ Faculty member with three or more years’ experience holding at least assistant

professorial rank in HR Management (or any of its specialized functions at an

accredited college or University); or

♦ Full-time consultant with at least three years’ experience practicing in the field of HR

Management; and/or

♦ Full-time attorneys with at least three years’ experience in counseling and advising

clients on matters relating to the HR profession.

Associate Membership: (Annual Dues: $75)

This level of membership would be appropriate for individuals who do not meet the qualifications of other classes of membership, but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in Human Resource Management and the mission of the Chapter. Associate Members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.

Student Membership: (Annual Dues: $0/year)

This level of membership is for a current human resources student with an interest in Human Resource Management and the mission of the Chapter. Student Members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.

Retiree Membership: (Annual Dues: $0/year)

This level of membership is for former human resources professionals who wish to stay involved in the industry community and share their experience with the next generation(s). Retiree Members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.

Jayhawk SHRM Member Scholarship

The ability for all Human Resource professionals to participate in a local professional organization is important to the Jayhawk SHRM chapter. It is our pleasure to be able to offer a membership scholarship program available to those who are experiencing periods of unemployment, or for those HR professionals whose employers are not able and/or willing to pay for a local professional membership. Monthly Meetings

Monthly Chapter meetings are held at Maceli's Banquet Hall: 1031 New Hampshire St, Lawrence, KS 66044.

At our meetings, attendees are able to network with other professional in the community, enjoy a fabulous Maceli's lunch, hear from meeting sponsors, diversity spotlights, learn about volunteer opportunities, find out about chapter news, and experience a top-knotch presentation that qualifies for HRCI and SHRM re-certification credits.
