Joel Goldberg: "Small Ball, Big Results"

In baseball terms small ball is the defense, the bull pen, the little moments, the sacrifices, the bunts. In business terms and in life terms small ball is about trust, empathy, accountability, and make-up. Small ball with any team builds culture. Everyone has a part to play and they do have value. Trust: Once I trust you, I’ll do anything for you. But you can give trust back quickly. Empathy: We all have stuff, we all go home to stuff, but when you can walk in someone else’s shoes and understand what they are going through, it is really powerful. Accountability: It’s about taking stuff for others. There is no I in team, but there is one in accountability. The “I” is saying “I got this, I got you, this is on me.” How many of us are willing to take stuff for others? Make-up: This is the kind of make-up that is in your heart. The core of who you are. Never underestimate the power of a dream. It’s always about people and when you play small ball every day with intent, you can accomplish all your dreams.

A native of suburban Philadelphia and Chicago, Joel Goldberg has been a member of the KC Royals television broadcast since 2008, serving as the host of every pregame and postgame show on FOX Sports Kansas City. The University of Wisconsin graduate won a 2001 Mid-America Emmy for sports reporting and has covered multiple championship teams in Major League Baseball and the National Football League. Joel built a nearly 25-year career developing and maintaining strong relationships with professional athletes, coaches, and team management and he now shares those stories and strategies with companies and associations.
