Navigating the Bermuda Triangle of overlapping FMLA, ADA, and Work Comp Responsibilities

James Olney, SVP, Senior Employment Attorney

    Program Description including Learning Objectives:

Leave or light duty for a workers’ compensation claim is often also covered by the FMLA and/or the ADA, and sometimes the interests of one set of laws can operate in conflict with the interests of another set. Making the wrong choices or getting compliance wrong can lead to problems, penalties, and even lawsuits.

Join us for this webinar in which we will discuss:

1.How these three sets of laws can overlap

2.How to run the FMLA concurrently with a work comp absence

3.When the interests of the ADA might trump those of work comp

“Effective management of these three laws will positively impact the business by

    1. Enabling employees to be more productive (accommodations, for example, allow employees to perform at their best).
    2. Reducing the risk/cost of legal fees, agency actions, and non-compliance settlements.
